William Shakespeare’s plays contributed to Renaissance culture by creating complex characters.

He depicted human relations and that characterized a period that rejected the blatantly artificial and simplistic portraits of individuals representative of previous periods. In addition to this, the interaction between the characters in Shakespeare´s plays were considerably more complex than in the work of literature produced during the Middle Ages.
