C\propto d\\ \\ \therefore \quad C=kd

When d=1, C=π, therefore:

k=π.

Therefore:

C=πd

Answer:

When d=8 cm,

C=8π cm

The circumference of a circle is (pi) x (diameter).

If pi were 3, then a diameter of 8 cm would mean circumference = 24 cm.

But 3 is 4.5% too small for pi.
