A factory produces bottled water at a rate of 2,000 cases per hour. They know that 1.14% of the cases must be rejected because at least one bottle was damaged in the production line.

a. express the percent as a rate per 100.

b. write and solve a proportion to find how many cases are rejected each hour during production.

1.14 per 100 or 1.14:100 or
(1.14)/(100)


(1.14)/(100) = (n)/(2000)

I will multiply the numerator by 20 because multiplying by 20 is how 100 became 2000
22.8 cases are rejected per hour.
