Before the WWII totalitarian dictators came to power in Germany, Italy and Soviet Union. They promised people prosperity and glory what was people yearning for. A typical example is Adolf Hitler's restoration of German military to begin invasions. He promised to restore Germany's broken international status after the WWI.
