Here's an example of simplifying an equation:

x+(50/2)-20=2x-3+(9/3)
Start with parentheses
x+25-20=2x-3+3
Now combine like terms
x+5=2x+0
Move like terms on the same sides
5=2x-x
Combine again
5=x
So, we end with the simplified equation: x=5

Hope that helps :)

Every number has factors. Some numbers share factors. To simplify a fraction, divide the numerator and the denominator, each separately, by the factors they share in common. The only common factor, at the end, should be 1.

Here's an example:

(45 x^(2) )/(9x) = (5 x^(2) )/(x) = 5

I first divided by 9 and ten by x.
