Some of its are gloomy, curses or prophecies, romance, intense emotions, heroes, decaying settings, monsters. Madness is also a common theme of gothic novels. It involves troubles and strange events. But have logical and natural explanations. This kind of novel arose in the late 18th and 19th century.
