Praying towns were organized to convert the Native American tribes to Christianity and were organized by the Puritans living in New England. At the beginning of this period, some preachers would hold mass in the tribes native language, however soon the Native Americans who converted attended church would attend English services. Shortly after these took place, some chiefs converted.
