The loss of trees results in less water vapor in the atmosphere and thus less rain.

The deforestation in Haiti had a long standing effect on the climatic condition in the region. As the trees were cut, the chance of water vapour reduced by a long margin. With reduced water vapour in the atmosphere, the possibility of rain also reduced. This reduction in rain resulted in drought in several areas. The remaining trees also died due to lack of rainfall. The climate heated up very quickly. The lakes also dried out very quickly due to lack of required rainfall.
