The Mediterranean climate is a warm climate, without harsh winters but with warm summers. This means that while people did not need to spend the whole summer preparing for the winter, as further north, they had siestas during the biggest heat in the summer.

Additionally, the warmth has given rise to specific cuisine with wine and olives at the center, and less carbohydrates (which people need to keep warm)
