Harsh winter and great distances.

German's blitzkrieg war doctrine was aimed at swiftness of actions and surprise element. Due to low temperature and snow, german armies movement was impaired.

Also there was a lot of land to be conquered, Russians could choose battlefields, german logistic lines were very long, and prone to guerilla attacks.
