What an organism looks like, or other detectable characteristics, is its phenotype.

Example, blue eyes and dimples.

Genotype is the coded information.

The genotype can be calculated in a punette square with the letters: Bd, BB, bb, DD, Dd and dd.

Depending if it is recessive or dominate.
