Why did President Franklin Roosevelt want to offer help to the Allies?

He believed that his time was better spent helping his country at home rather than fighting a war abroad. This domestic policy led to FDR fueling the allies in an effort to end the war quickly. He hoped that this would prevent any actions of war that he and the country might have to take. Also, this showed Americas power, leading America into becoming a world power.
