Explain this comment: Much of the thought upon which present-day democratic government rests began as a challenge to the theory of the divine rights of kings.

King George III was a tyrant who wouldn't listen to the demands of colonist and therefore US fought with them.

After the American Revolution, a tyrant like George was not desirable. For that reason, firstly Articles of Confederation was set up, central government disseminated the power to the state governments.

Then everything came down to the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial branches of government.
