The majority of American intervention in foreign affairs occurred during the Cold War. Competing with the Soviet Union, the US frequently sponsored pro-American coups or uprisings in nations that seemed to be trending towards communism. On the largest scale, the US even led invasions into Southeast Asia and contributed heavily to the Korean War. Latin America was a frequent hotspot for activity as well especially towards the latter half of the Cold War with Fidel Castro's rise to power in Cuba.
