Crumpets in England are: A thick circle shape type of bread. Their shape comes from being restrained in a pan/griddle by a shallow ring. They have a flat top with many small pores (holes) and have a chewy and spongy texture. They are also about 8 cm by 2 cm and 0.8" thick.

Hope I helped!
