Meiosis is the process of one cell dividing into four reproductive cells.
As you should already know, you get half of your chromosomes from each parent for the sake of genetic variation.
Well, meiosis duplicates the chromosomes, then divides them into 4 cells, so that each new daughter cell gets half the amount of chromosomes as the parent cell.
