Nonalignment meant that the countries sided neither with the Western bloc (capitalist, including NATO -member coutries) nor with the Eastern bloc(communist and socialist, led by Soviet Union). In fact India played an important part in the Non-Alligned movement, conceiving of the idea, and as such kept relations with both sides and sided with none.
