Homeostasis is the property or homeostasis of an open system, especially of living beings, to regulate its internal environment to maintain a stable status by dynamic balance multiple adjustments, controlled by interrelated regulation mechanisms. The term was coined in 1932 by Walter Bradford Cannon1 from the Greek words homeo, "similar" or "equal" and stasis, "static".
