Cinco de Mayo is a regional holiday limited primarily to the state of Juarez, Mexico. There is some limited recognition of the holiday in other parts of the country. For the most part the celebrations combine food, music, and dancing.

This is true. It is a holiday in schools (so the schools are closed) but it is not an official holiday, and depending on the place offices might or might not be closed.
