According to the Hindu mythology, the Ganges ws once a river of heaven that flowed across the sky. Long ago the goddes Gange dicided to sent a king named Bhagiratha whose ancestor had been burned to ash. So according to the Hindu mythology the source of the river is that the Lord Shiva caught Ganges in his hair as she ( Gange ) cascaded down from heaven. That my opinion
