The answer is mutation, because overtimes during a cell reproduction, a gene may be change and it affect the entire other cell, some of that mutation are benefit to help the organism blend themselves to the environment and those with better mutation to help them with better traits, they will mostly likely to pass their genes on and survive very much.

The answer to this is mutations. Over time, random errors occur in the genetic makeup of an organism, giving it newer abilities. These abilities could help them survive or make them easy pickings for predators. If they are favorable traits, then they will be able to pass it down through reproduction. Therefore, over time, every organism in that species will most likely have the trait.
