The tympanic membrane or eardrum is a membrane in the ear that vibrates when hit by sound waves.It is tightly stretched and separates the ear canal from the middle ear. When sound waves hit the tympanic membrane, it vibrates. these vibrations are then passed to the middle ear, which consist of the ossicles or ear bones.
