The Mississippi River is important for farming and trade because many ships or back in the days steamboats would take supplies off of trains from New York in the northern parts of the Mississippi River and go down the river to New Orleans were they would trade. It is important for farming because the river has a lot of water which can water plants and give water to animals.

it is important because it can carry water to the fields for farming and can ship crops or special products of trade down the river to other states or countries like Mexico.
