In the equation y = mx + b, you can find the slope very quickly and easily, because m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept. So in the equation y = 2x - 1, the slope is 2, and the y-intercept is -1. :)

In this case the slope is 2 because whatever number that comes before the x in the slope intercept equation is the slope of that line.
