The Association of Southeast Asia is an organization together comprising of the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand that was framed in 1961. The territory, together with some portion of South Asia, was generally known as the East Indies or just the Indies until the twentieth century. Power issues exist over a few regions in the South China Sea. Papua New Guinea has expressed that it may join ASEAN and is right now an eyewitness.
