A. Non-Violent protest. Gandhi employed various demonstrations of civil disobedience or non-violent protest in order to exhibit his movement's ethical superiority over the British occupiers in order to achieve independence. His movement was successful, because in 1947 the U.K. Parliament approved of their establishment as a sovereign state. However, Indian independence can be attributed to a multitude of reasons, not Gandhi's sole movement.
