The correct answer is A. Cotton. Tobacco was often manufactured even in states that weren't slave states, while cotton was almost exlusive to them due to the great climate and free workforce in the form of slavery. Sugar and rice weren't produced that much, with sugar production spiking after Cuban liberation from the Spanish.
