When Mendel studied the pea plants and how they reproduce, he did an experiment with the green and yellow pea plants to learn all about how they can reproduce and pass on some of their genetics to the baby pea plants. So, that the baby peas get half of their genetics from each parent. He discovered how the baby peas get their genetics and about their true breeding.
