D. Pardons from sin because they used to charge you money to pray to God to pardon you if you did some thing wrong and a lot of people did and it was really expensive so they got a lot of money and spent it on St.basilica

Answer:

d. pardons from sin

Step-by-step explanation:

Indulgences are money that people used to pay the church to reduce the punishment from sins. Rich and noble people started to give more and more money to the church, build monuments and others so they could have their sins forgiven, this made possible for the church to become powerful and rich. But indulgences were the main critics of the Protestant Reform because for Martin Luther this was against Jesus and the idea of forgiveness and redemption.
