In what sense is language arbitrary

Human beings do not speak the same language all over the world. For instance, the word 'tree' is an English word, and known only by those who have learned this language. Otherwise, it can have other morphemes combinations like 'copac' (in Romanian) or 'arbre' in French, so it's not universal, nor absolute.
