The ratio of the height of the stick to the length of its shadow is equal to the ratio of the height of the tree to the length of its shadow.

x - the height of the tree

(4)/(2)=(x)/(18) \\ 2=(x)/(18) \\ 2 * 18=x \\ x=36

The tree is 36 ft tall.
