Answer: The measure of smaller angle is 39°

Explanation:

Complementary angles are those two angles whose sum is 90°,

Let x degree be the measure of the larger angle,

Then the measure of smaller angle = ( x - 12 ) degree,

Since, x and ( x - 12 ) are complements,

By the above property,

x + x - 12° = 90°

2x - 12° = 90°

2x = 102° ⇒ x = 51°,

The measure of the smaller angle = x - 12° = 51° - 12° = 39°
