The Trail of Tears was the name given to the path the Cherokees walked. This is based on the hardships the people faced. The path was called by the Cherokees, nunna-da-ul-tsun-yi, which means The Trail Where They Cried, which was shortened to the Trail of Tears. The President who oversaw the Trail of Tears was President Andrew Jackson. Hope this answer helps.
