she means she is unpersonalized, non made, flat, plain, nothing is there its empty..and nobody has molded her into a person...untouched

When she describes her self as a 'black canvas' walker is indicting her newness and untouched personality just like a canvas is untouched and new and yet to be written or drawn upon. It can also mean that school environment hasn't yet influenced or effected her.
