How does ADP get turned into ATP?

ADP gets turned into ATP whenever a cell needs energy to perform a task. ATP first splits off one of its 3 phosphates to become ADP, and then it releases energy. This energy is used for ADP to break the 3 stranded phosphate bond into two pieces.
