Multiply 4.4 by 5280, or the number of feet per mile. Divide this by 3600, which gets you 6.453333... feet per second

1 mile = 5280 feet
4.4 * 5280 = 23232
1 hour = 60 minutes
23232 / 60 = 387.2 feet/second
