Explain why the speed of sound is faster in solids than in gases. Include two other factors Chapter 17 says the speed of sound can depend on.

It is faster in solids generally because the particles in a solid tend to be closer together than particles in a gas.

Two other factors the speed of sound can depend on is the density of the medium and how elastic the medium is

Gases are at higher temperatures than solids. Other factors are the source of sound and how far away it is.
