There have been many changes in the sub-Saharan region where the Aksum Kingdom once thrived. The most obvious change is the name, now Ethiopia, but there is much more. The major exports of the Aksum Kingdom were crystal, brass, copper, frankincense, myrrh, gold, and ivory. The major export of Ethiopia is coffee. Although Christianity has remained in Ethiopia from the time of the kingdom of Aksum, some Ethiopians are Muslim. Finally, a major change of the region is the language. The people of Aksum spoke Ge'ez, a mixture of South Arabian, Greek, and Cushitic languages. The official language of Ethiopia is Amharic.
