A mermaid Ariel is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. Ariel can now walk but can't talk. Ursula sees things going well for Ariel and disguises herself as a young girl to marry the prince herself. Ariel and her friends stop the wedding and Ariel and the Prince get married.
