The northern colonies. They didn't have plantations that needed slaves or an economic system that thrives on slaves, so they were able to focus on the more humane side of slavery. If you mean who as in a single individual, I'm sorry! There were lots and lots of people who didn't believe in slavery and wanted it abolished so I think u mean a region
