Why does - 7 - (-4) have the same result as - 7 + 4?

Answer:

Since the -7 would stay a negative, a -(-4) is basically subtracting a negative four would just be adding 4 since going the opposite way of the opposite way is just going the normal way if there were just two directions, on the real number line the only ways you can go is up and down, that's how math works.
