Sexual reproduction results in more genetic variation. Due to small mutations that occur frequently from such, the gene pool is widened. For example, bird feather pigment differences are a result of genetic variation. As a result of this being advantageous, females of that species prefer those males with better color plumage, and thus passes on the gene to future generations.
