2x-11=7x+9
i would bring the -11 over to the 9. change it to 9+11. the equation is now
2x=7x+9+11
2x=7x+20
then bring the 7x over chaning it to -7x so then it is
2x-7x=20
-5x=20
then divide by -5
-5x/-5=20/-5
answer is
x=-4
