What does x equal? 3(14x-15)=-72

The 3(14x-15) is basically multiplying so 3*14x-3*15 so that would be 42x-45=-72. After that, you add 45 on both sides canceling -45 and make the -72 to -27. 42x=-27, now you divide 42 into both sides making x=-27/45.
