How is it that texas has more than two hundred lakes and only one natural lake?

I live in Texas and because of that is that New Mexico and Texas once shared the Pecos river but New Mexico decided to build a dam and hardly let a little flow so that's why Texas doesn't have that many natural rivers or lakes and plus there is more than one natural lake in Texas

The other lakes were created because the rivers are flooded during heavy rains, causing major disasters where human lives, livestock and property are lost. This is why dams were built along the rivers to create deposits that will control the floods which absorb these waters to reduce losses.
