The class received 39 lollipops.

The teacher said to divide them into two groups so that the ratio is 5 to 8. (5:8) How many lollipops will be in each group?

There would be 15 lollipops in 5 and 24 lollipops in 8.

First do 5 + 8. That's 13, right? Now do 39 divided by 13. That gets you 3. Now you do 5 times 3 and 8 times 3; there's your answer.
