A boa constrictor is 18 inches long at birth and grows 8 inches per year. Write an equation that represents the length Y (in feet) of a boa constrictor that is X years old.

This is writing equations in slope intercept form and I tried y=8x+18 but it didn't work.

y = 8x + 18 should work.

8x would be the rate that the snake would grow each year and 18 would be how long the snake was at birth
