Why do you think the Central time zone had more railroads?

I think is because of the fact that it was one hour behind est and one head of pst. This would make traveling more accurate and if you were going to trade from pst to est the two sides would be able to meet in the middle saving each other the extra time it would take to go from on side of the country to another.

Hope I helped. :)
