To get x-intercepts: set the y value to 0.

$y=-(1)/(2)x-3\rightarrow 0=-(1)/(2)x-3$

3=-(1)/(2)x

which becomes
3*-(2)/(1)=x=3*-2=-6

So your x-intercept is (-6,0)

To get y-intercepts: set the x value to 0.

$y=-(1)/(2)-3\rightarrow y=-(1)/(2)(0)-3$

y=0-3=-3

So your y-intercept is (0,-3)
