When Henry David Thoreau was writing Walden, he was living in a cabin in the woods. Thoreau had moved here in order to try to live more simply. He believed that people were too concerned with modern life, possessions and appearances. In order to fully reconnect with nature, as well as to know himself better, he decided to move to this cabin. He lived here for two years, and he recorded his experiences in Walden.
